The jungle jacket was designed in the early 1960s for the humid heat of Vietnam. It took from the 1942 American paratrooper jacket its slanted chest pockets, within reach even under full kit, and was revised several times over the course of the war.
By the end of the decade, the light cotton of the early versions was joined by ripstop, the gridded weave, reinforced at regular intervals, that stops a tear from spreading. That is the cloth we remade ours in, a ripstop of 70% cotton, from a 1969 original in Guilherme's archive: four pleated, flapped pockets, buttoned cuffs and field green.
After the war, the jungle jacket left the forest for the city. It became the summer jacket of those who love military clothing and, in Italy, an everyday layer over tailoring.
